Theming
When planning the event the students in the Meeting and Event Mangement class proposed several theme ideas to our client. The one that appealed to the client most was the one that embodied the following words and phrases:
"Find a sweet major!" ,"You DONUT want to miss this!" , & "DONUT wait to choose your major!"
The client liked the pastels, fair-like feel, and the fact we could integrate food & beverage into this theme. Once we had a theme to work with, the decor committee in the class started planning how to physically support the theme at the event site. The decor committee was the committee I was a member of.
Decor
All decor decisions were made to reinforce the theme. The decor committee focused on pastel colors and candy-themed decor items. One student had gigantic lollipop props we were able to use in the venue. Helium to inflate the balloons was also donated. The balloons helped draw attention to our event and create a fair-like atmosphere. All other decor was purchased, such as the tablecloths, banner, balloons, and streamers. All of these matched the colors used in the marketing plan which created continuity. All items were easy to set up and tear down during the day of the event.
